When it comes to prenatal care, SWHC’s goals are to maintain the health of mother and child, to monitor you for the development of any high-risk conditions, and to provide education for you and your family about pregnancy, birth, and the transition to parenting. You are able to choose to see an OBGYN or certified nurse midwife for your prenatal care and delivery. SWHC offers centering prenatal care, a unique approach to prenatal care, during which you will meet with a small group of pregnant women 10 times throughout your pregnancy, along with a provider and nurse. Sessions will focus on topics such as nutrition and exercise during pregnancy, comfort issues, birth preparation and recovery, and more. They attend births at Sentara RMH.
Harrisonburg OBGYN

- Information: Harrisonburg OBGYN is a group of five OBGYN physicians, three nurse practitioners, and three certified nurse midwives. Of these, two are men and nine are women. They offer childbirth classes, lactation consultant services, early gender DNA testing, ultrasounds, and more. They attend births at Sentara RMH.

Augusta Healthcare for Women (Fishersville and Lexington, VA)

- Information: AHCFW provides traditional obstetrics care with either a physician or certified midwife, or Centering Pregnancy care through group sessions with other women with similar due dates. Births are attended at Augusta Health.
Genesis Resort for Birth (Staunton, VA)

- Information: Certified nurse midwife Heather Soper provides prenatal and postpartum care conveniently performed in the client’s home within 60 miles of Staunton. She allows ample time for questions as each visit is one hour long. Labor and birth take place either in the client’s home or in the hospital. If you choose to birth in the hospital you must transfer to an OB/GYN or midwife while still seeing Heather weekly until birth, but there is also the option to have Heather on call for the birth and serve in the role of a doula. These packages are at different price points, so reach out to Heather with questions!
