About Back Home on the Farm

Farmers Gary and Lynn grew up as farm kids, active in 4-H and FFA, and they knew from the start that they wanted to share their love of farming with their own families someday. Today, they own over 600 acres of American farmland scattered across the country, but the 240 acres bordering the city limits of Harrisonburg are their main focus today.

With over 100 cattle on the property, most of the acreage is dedicated to their pasture, but it also includes plenty of land for harvesting hay, growing plants in their 12,000-square-foot greenhouse, and providing families a place to make memories amidst their famous corn maze and pumpkin patches.

Back Home on the Farm began as a mini fall festival back in the 90s, but attendance quickly grew. Eventually, they added a corn maze and other family attractions in 2004. Today, the farm is open almost year-round, with plenty of seasonal attractions like greenhouse sales in the spring and fall trips in autumn. There’s always something new and exciting to explore (and taste!) at Back Home on the Farm, so don’t be surprised if you want to visit again and again!

All The Farm Fun

What’s available to do, see, taste, and buy at Back Home on the Farm depends on the season. In the summer, you can explore the Enchanted Garden, with its fairy gardens and tiny, magical fairy-sized plants. Visit some of their beloved farm animals, like their herd of Hereford cattle, a donkey named Jill, and plenty of bunnies and goats, among other farm animals.

In the fall, you and your family can enjoy the 7-acre pumpkin patch and over 40 family-friendly attractions. Their corn maze is an exciting way to experience the outdoors in autumn, and you can delight your taste buds with seasonal treats like apple cider donuts and slushies. Plus, a few evenings every fall, they have a community bonfire, perfect for gathering with friends and family for a night of music, s’mores, and fun.

Then, in the spring, be sure to visit the greenhouse, which comes alive with gorgeous plants (edible and non-edible) for you to bring home and plant for yourself so you can have a piece of Back Home on the Farm right in your backyard!
