Looking for a small home birth midwifery and office birth practice in the Shenandoah Valley dedicated to you? Grace Midwifery makes the perfect support team for every mama!

About Grace Midwifery

Grace Midwifery is a small practice, only taking 1 to 3 clients per month. They offer midwifery-led community care. Grace Midwifery focuses on evidence-based care. They also build a relationship with their clients to work on preparations and preventative measures. All of this so they can lead you to a great outcome! Grace Midwifery is also woman-owned and operated, founded by Doran Richards, CPM, who made it a goal to enable other women to discover, recognize, and experience their preferred birth outcomes.

Doran Richards has over 20 years of experience and started Grace Midwifery in 2012, and has also been a member of the National Association of Certified Professional Midwives since 2011, as well as the Virginia Midwives Alliance since 2005! Doran is proud to be an educator on top of her midwifery, as she also trains student midwives to provide women with a broad range of care from well-woman to prenatal and postnatal care, including even newborn assessment and care. She also authored the Maidens by His Design curriculum for girls and mothers in order to discuss women’s health.

Services

Grace Midwifery offers home birth and cottage birth to local moms, as well as a professionally trained team. Grace Midwifery provides prenatal services, postpartum support, Christian childbirth classes, and ultrasound services from registered sonographer Susan Pritts. She partners with Grace Midwifery in order to provide multiple imaging specialty services. Grace Midwifery’s maternity care package includes a standard prenatal schedule, labor, birth, delivery, 4 postpartum visits, and 4 well-baby visits.

All lab work is done in-office as well as in-office or in-home newborn screening tests, critical congenital heart defect screening, pap smears, and more. They also offer a lending library for clients as an invaluable resource. In addition, they help fill out/send in your baby’s health record/birth certificate. They ensure you get all of your baby’s legal documents! Also included in the maternity care package are a free consultation, shared electronic health records, initial lab work, GBS testing, and completion of the electronic health department birth certificate.
