About Marshall Midwifery
Marshall Midwifery and Birth Center is owned and operated by Tierney O’Brien Dovan. She has been attending births since the 1980s! Tierney actually received her CPM and Midwifery license in 2008. But she was first inspired by her desire to help other women. After having her first daughter in 1980, she was driven to be able to provide midwifery care to others. Just as she had received. Tierney believes that through great midwifery care, women can achieve their fullest birthing potential.
She also dedicates herself to providing evidence-based outcomes and balanced, educated facts about her patients’ pregnancy and birth choices. Tierney always dreamed of providing a birth center for those who home birth wasn’t right for. So she began searching for the perfect spot in 2009. She and her husband found the perfect house to serve as a “birth Home.” They then opened up her Marshall Midwifery and Birth Center in 2010!
Services
Marshall Midwifery and Birth Center offers quite a few traditional midwifery services and specialty services such as prenatal care, home birth, well-woman care and annual exams, water birth, placental encapsulation, breastfeeding and newborn care support, and their birth center! Their birthing center is a safe place to birth outside of the hospital. It is homed in a cape cod home on a half-acre lot that features beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The home has 3 spacious birthing rooms and a full kitchen to accommodate clients during their stay. The birth center is also located close to the Marshall Rescue Squad and the Fauquier Hospital. Just in case any emergencies arise. Tierney places great pride in her practice and offers compassionate care while being passionate about educating her clients to make the most informed choices they can for themselves and their families!
Specialty
As I mentioned earlier, Marshall Midwifery and Birth Center offers various classes, which Tierney is really dedicated to since it is her duty as a CPM to educate and provide moms and their families with resources they can benefit from! Classes offered at the birth center include informed home birth classes, birth center classes, hypnobirthing classes, childbirth and labor classes, newborn care classes, and more educational class options to help you stay on top of the newest guidelines and make you aware of all of your choices!
