A favorite December evening tradition in our family is hopping in the car, cranking up the heat, turning on Christmas music and driving around to see the Christmas lights in and near Harrisonburg, VA. So many wonderful people take the time to light up their homes as a way to bless their community, and for that, we are grateful. They may or may not realize the immense joy it brings to so many of the children in our area. It’s a simple and yet fun activity to do with kids and it’s wonderful because, in most cases, you don’t have to brave cold weather. Keep the kids in their jammies and just head out to enjoy these light shows!
So, without further ado, here are six great spots to check out Christmas lights in/near Harrisonburg, VA.
Home on Green Hill Rd, Singers Glenn, VA
Info: This location has at least one house with lights synced to music. There are signs telling you what station to tune your radio to. This spot has always been a favorite for my family. They do a fantastic job. The home is located about 2 miles down Green Hill Road (coming from 42 north of Harrisonburg).
Magnolia Ridge Neighborhood, Harrisonburg, VA
Info: This neighborhood has many beautiful home with Christmas lights and several that are timed with music to the radio.
Home across from John C Myers Elementary School, Broadway, VA
Info: The house across from John C Myers Elementary School in Broadway is lit up and timed with music.
Gypsy Hill Park, Staunton, VA
Info: Each Christmas, Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton, VA transforms into a Christmas light wonderland. It is open to driving or walking through the park to see the lights every evening from 5-11pm.
Shenandoah Fairgrounds, Woodstock, VA
Info: Enjoy a 1.5 mile drive through Christmas light displays. This location also boasts a Christmas village and carnival! The light show is $25 per car and is open Thursday-Sunday evenings from 5pm – 8 or 9pm depending on the day.
Boars Head Inn, Charlottesville, VA
Info: If you are willing to drive a little further from Harrisonburg, this spot looks like it could be a ton of fun for the family as well! It is a half-mile walking loop where you can see thousands of lights, including walking inside a huge Christmas tree.
