About Charlottesville Doulas
Charlottesville Doulas is a group made up of independent doulas. Through the collective, you’ll have access to several experts to find the perfect match for your family. The group includes fifteen birth doulas as well as eleven postpartum doulas.
There are some overlaps between the two groups, allowing you to continue with your same doula in the months following your delivery. Every person here is highly experienced and extremely passionate about giving you a choice when it comes to your delivery.
They provide inclusive and comprehensive care in a judgment-free atmosphere. Above all else, they want to ensure you feel empowered throughout pregnancy.
Services
The doulas, through the collective, offer a host of services to ensure you feel completely prepared. First and foremost, they’re here to listen! They understand that you know what’s best for your body.
They’ll provide you with all their knowledge so you can build a birth plan together. You’ll have the ability to call or email your doula throughout your pregnancy if you have any questions or concerns.
As you approach your due date, your doula will go on call, so they’re ready when your baby is. They’ll coach you throughout delivery, suggest positions, and provide natural forms of pain relief. They will also ensure your birth plan is respected.
You can choose to have a postpartum doula in the months following your delivery. A postpartum doula is there to ensure your recovery goes well. Sometimes, this means checking on your emotional well-being and screening you for common issues such as postpartum depression or anxiety.
Other times, this means watching the baby so you can get a few hours of sleep or taking care of errands so you can relax. They also can help with any breastfeeding issues.
Specialty
Many of the doulas through the center are certified in complementary fields. You can find prenatal yoga specialists, reiki experts, lactation consultants, and childbirth educators. The Charlottesville Doulas have created an entire village, giving you the best help throughout early parenthood.
