Finding a school for your child is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make as a parent. School is where your child will form lifelong friendships alongside a love of learning. Finding a school that caters to your child’s learning style can give them the best head start. If it’s time to start looking at different options, I’d love to tell you about the Charlottesville Waldorf School. This unique space dedicates itself to giving every child a space where they can grow!

About the Charlottesville Waldorf School

Charlottesville Waldorf School is a center for children starting at 18 months and going all the way up to 8th grade. The school was a grassroots effort started in 1980 by local parents. What started as a farmhouse school for 12 kids has since expanded to include a wide range of classes catering to children’s natural curiosity.

Children are placed in age-appropriate classrooms and encouraged to explore. This holistic approach to education allows children to build their confidence and autonomy. You can schedule a tour at 120 Waldorf School Road.

Services

Charlottesville Waldorf School gives children a gentle introduction to the center with Parent and Child classes for ages 18 months-6 years. You’ll accompany your child for the four-week session and get a firsthand look at the school. Once your child reaches preschool age, they can participate in Early Education programs. These classes get your child out in nature to explore the world surrounding them.

Starting in first grade, they’ll enter into more formal lessons. Learning times are structured around natural daily rhythms. They’ll begin arithmetic, language arts, and form drawing. These lessons are mixed with plenty of playtime. As they enter middle school, they’ll add on specialized subjects, including woodworking, orchestra, and choir. By the end of their time, they’ll be ready for high school and have critical and objective thinking skills that will benefit them for years to come.
