About the Brookhaven Birth Center
Brookhaven Birth Center was founded by owner Misty Ward in 2010 and is entirely run by women. They have a small team of midwives and midwife apprentices, all of whom you will have the opportunity to get to know throughout your pregnancy, so you feel comforted by having a personal connection with the midwife who will deliver your baby. The Birth Center is located in Rockingham, Virginia.
Services
Brookhaven Birth Center offers several different options for delivering your baby. The first is to give birth at the Birth Center, which hosts two inviting, home-like birthing rooms with immersion bathtubs, cozy fireplaces, and a fully stocked kitchen. When laboring, mothers are welcome to eat when they like, labor in whichever position feels most comfortable and invite whomever they would like to accompany their delivery. Opting to give birth in the Birth Center includes all of your prenatal care throughout your entire pregnancy, including elective ultrasounds, should you choose to have them. Once you have given birth, your midwife will conduct an in-home visit approximately 72 hours postpartum.
If you prefer to give birth within the comfort of your home, then that is also an option with Brookhaven Birth Center. Your prenatal care will still happen at the Birth Center. But when it is time for you to deliver, your midwife will attend at home. If you’d like a safe home water birth, you can also rent a birthing tub from Brookhaven to use as you so choose.
If you decide a hospital birth is right for you, owner Misty Ward is also available. As a doula she helps you have a safe and supported birth experience with a more personal touch. Brookhaven also offers postnatal doula services to help you transition into motherhood with an extra set of hands and a knowledgeable guide by your side.
Specialty
Brookhaven Birth Center knows that pregnancy is a fleeting time of life to look back upon fondly. As such, they offer belly cast services for you to remember your beautiful belly. A plaster cast is made of your belly and breasts. So you can forever remember your strong, beautiful body as it looked while carrying your baby. They also offer placenta services. So you can transform your placenta into a tincture or capsules. Which are proven to help boost postpartum mood, and increase breastmilk production and energy.
